Commissions
My Pet Portraits are crafted on a commission basis for clients globally. I focus on producing intricately detailed, lifelike drawings of your beloved animals, whether they are household pets, farm animals, or wildlife. Utilizing premium light fast colored pencils, specifically Fabercastell Polychromos and Caran D'ache Luminance Pencils, along with the finest quality paper, which means your portrait will last a lifetime with proper care. I ensure that each custom portrait captures a remarkable level of detail. Here’s a step-by-step guide to commissioning your very own pet portrait:
Sizes & Prices
Prices are based on a single subject head/neck portrait set against a white background. Your drawing will come with an acid-free white double photo mount, backing, and protective clear sleeve. Portraits will arrive ready to fit a standard sized frame upon delivery (frame not included).
$375.00
Small Size
8" x 10"
This size is particularly well-suited for smaller dogs and cats. While it allows for a good level of detail, the size does impose some limitations. It is not appropriate for accommodating two or more pets, making it ideal for a single pet. The portrait will come with a photo mount designed to fit an 11"x14" frame.
$450.00
Standard Size
9" x 12"
This size is the most popular option, making it ideal for all varieties of pets, including medium to larger dogs, as well as full-body portraits that capture intricate details in the artwork. It is well-suited for wall display or placement on a display surface. This size accommodates portraits of up to two pets and will include a photo mount designed for a 12"x16" frame.
$525.00
Large
11" x 14"
This size allows for an incredible amount of detail in the artwork. It's ideal for displaying on a wall. It accommodates up to three pets, and if your pet is small, the portrait will be larger than life size! Additionally, the piece comes with a photo mount designed to fit a 16"x20" frame.
I am highly adaptable to customer requests! You can add multiple pets to a 9"x12" or 11"x14" for an additional 50% per pet. For any extra pets beyond two, there will be an additional charge of 25% each. I can also accommodate requests for backgrounds, full-body images, specific color paper, or custom sizes, and I would be glad to provide a quote. Feel free to contact me with any questions about quotes.
01
SELECT A PORTRAIT SIZE
Steps to ordering a custom pet portrait:
To begin, you'll need to choose a portrait size from the price list. If you're uncertain or have any special requests, I can suggest the best size based on your reference photos. Additionally, consider where the portrait will be displayed.
Before I start your commissioned pet portrait, I will always confirm the details with you. If you decide to change the size after booking, that's perfectly fine; just please provide me with as much notice as possible so I can accommodate the change.

02
CHOOSE A REFERENCE PHOTO(S)
To create a great drawing of your pet, it's essential to provide a high-quality photo that captures their personality through their pose or expression. Natural lighting works best, so try to take the photo near a window or outdoors, avoiding direct sunlight. Make sure I can see your pet's eyes clearly; holding a treat above the camera can help keep their attention. Photos are best taken at your pet's height, rather than from above or below which can distort the view. Remember, the better the photo, the better the drawing!

Please send the original image instead of screenshots or photos transferred through apps, as these can reduce the photo quality. Emailing the photos is the best option.

I typically use one main photo for the drawing, but sending a variety of images in different lighting and poses can help me understand your pet's character better. I also enjoy hearing about your pet's personality and stories, as this information enriches the portrait.

If you're uncertain about the suitability of your images, don't hesitate to send me a few samples via email. I’d be happy to offer tips on how to take better photos and evaluate their potential for drawing.

I understand that some cherished pets may no longer be with us, but rest assured, I am dedicated to working with the photos you share and will do my utmost to create the best drawing possible from them.

TIME TO BOOK!
Once you’ve decided on the size of the portrait you want and collected a selection of suitable reference photos, the next step is to reach out to me. Please note that I typically have a 2-3 month waitlist, so keep this in mind if you need the portrait by a specific date.

To secure your booking, a 25% non-refundable booking fee is required. This can be paid via bank transfer, PayPal, or Venmo. The remaining balance can be settled once the drawing is finished, and the booking fee will be applied to your portrait.

I will always reach out to you closer to the start date to confirm the size and reference photo I’ll be using. You will also get an e-mail notification when I begin working on your portrait.
